The Sylvan Handley Memorial Fund was established by his family in his honor. Contributions to that fund are intended for major repairs and improvements to the church property. In addition, or as an alternative to altar flowers, it is appropriate to remember or honor loved ones by contributing to that fund. It is also an appropriate alternative for funeral flowers at the death of a loved one.

Darfur Update: The human rights record of China is already in question as a result of the political unrest in Tibet. Alpha Lisimba (a journalist who grew up in Darfur) writes of China's role in the genocide in Darfur: "between 2002 and 2005, the most disastrous years of the genocide, China transferred 45 million [US dollars] worth of weapons and ammunition to the Sudanese government. Since 2005, China has provided 90 per cent of all small arms in Sudan, many of which are found in the hands of the government troops as well as the murderous Janjaweed militia."
