Day 4 7/9/2003
|
We finished up the Neda’s house. She was very happy. She told us that she had her car but had only driven it 17 miles in the last 3 years. She relies on friends to take her places and bring her and her husband food. Besides painting the house and shed, fixing the roof and painting the rail, we added a metal skirt around the back of the house to make it look nicer. We had lunch at a little stand. We all couldn’t fit inside but we squeezed in because a big storm came through. It was more people then I think they had ever served at one time. We rode out to the next site. It is a house about 45 minutes from where we are staying. We are going to be painting the house and garage. The house is in pretty good shape, but the husband just suffered a stroke and she is struggling to keep things together. Our afternoon of work got rained out. We did stop to see the John Henry memorial. Tonight we are having our feast fried turkey and ham. We invited all the work groups as well as the center staff. |
